The mesmerizing liquid universe of Luminous Loves Gray is a playland, a therapy couch, a zendo, and a nature center. The poems have a wonderful quality of gentle transformation, and you will often find yourself in a new world by the last line. These poems deliver the acuity and wisdom of a poet who is also a psychologist and a Zen teacher. They are lyrical, humorous, emotional, sensual, and mystical, sometimes all in one line. They carry us through the portals of human nature to transcendence. Each poem rides a current of love for what is unique about human life in a boundless and mysterious context.

Endorsements

“In an ode to her fountain pen, poet Beth Jacobs writes ‘inside all this gray / is a vivid shimmer,’ lines that seem to capture the essence of Luminous Loves Gray. Jacobs is a master of synesthesia. A bug is no less important than the survival of the earth. Sound becomes color, sight the taste of salt. With no punctuation in her work, each poem brilliantly floats into the next, often noting the oneness of daily experience as a source of enlightenment and expanded consciousness. Once you dive into this book, you will ride the currents of the universe's ink.”
Perie Longo, author of Baggage Claim and other poetry collections; Santa Barbara, California, Poet Laureate Emerita

“This latest work by Beth Jacobs is poetry of the highest order, reaching the widest audience in the most compassionate way. I was touched by the journey that we all have before us. Consider the following: On ‘Faith’—‘the plain truth / will push the blind / through every correct / portal if asked.’ On ‘Pathways’—‘your shape will leave a dent / in this liquid impressionable universe.’ On ‘Waiting with Oaks’—‘their sweltering leaf dance / is my lesson.’ I have no doubt that Beth’s poems will bring light, warmth, and a compelling wonder to all who search for meaning and connection in our lives.”
Nicholas Mazza Ph.D.,Professor, Dean Emeritus, and Poet-in-Residence at the Florida State University, College of Social Work; author of Poetry Therapy: Theory and Practice, 3rd Edition (2022), among other poetry and non-fiction publications
